Reports To: Nursery Lead
Position Overview:
This position is a cross between sales and operations that involves working with customers daily to sell plants, hardscape and gardening product lines while also setting up/maintaining/taking down the sales yard, coordinating re-ordering of stock, daily plant movement related to sold plants, merchandising, transfers, etc. Good communication skills essential, and some horticultural knowledge preferred.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assists customers with tree, shrub, and perennial plant purchases as well as add-on sales of related products. Gain familiarity with the entire GC product line and assist customers with purchases in other areas (garden décor, garden maintenance, etc.).
Learn to utilize Company POS software to perform all functions related to estimates, orders, inventory look up, cashiering and more.
Take a support role to maintain inventory accuracy throughout the year via keeping an eye on accurate product labeling, accurate produce selling, accuracy with moving product into clearance area, conducting cycle counting and performing annual physical counts.
Assist with a system of recording and communicating tree/shrub replenishing needs on a daily basis throughout the year.
Take a support role in maintaining a beautiful, easy-to-shop sales area through various activities including plant displays/placement, plant health care, watering, removing sold stock, bringing previously sold stock back to sales area, removing substandard stock, and general cleanliness of the facility.
Learn how to operate all machinery involved with unloading, loading and moving plant material and hard good product lines. May occasionally assist in plant deliveries.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
