Landscape Design 101: Landscaping for Life (Online) Part 1/4

This intensive introductory course (it is a 4 part class: Feb 22, 24 & March 1, 3) will provide the knowledge, skills, and understanding to create a great-looking landscape that is healthier for people and for the environment. The course is based on the principles of the Sustainable Sites Initiative, the nation’s first rating system for sustainable landscapes. The comprehensive curriculum covers a range of topics, including site evaluation, soils, water, plants, and landscape materials. During the course, participants will design their own landscape using the principles learned in class. Upon completing the course participants will receive a certificate of completion.
You will learn how to:
· Create a rain garden
· Determine soil type and how to create healthy soil
· Understand the role of water and how to best use it
· Use compost
· Source and use native plants
· Avoid invasive species
· Garden for wildlife
· Purchase local and responsible materials
Course Duration: This series of classes will be held on February 22, 24 and March 1, 3 from 8 am to 12 pm
