Position: Yard Service Team Member
Weston Nurseries, one of the area’s leading garden centers and wholesalers of plant material and gardening products is excited to announce we are seeking a dedicated and professional individual join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in a customer-centric retail or hospitality environment and thoroughly enjoy working alongside fellow employees and customers.
The Yard Service Team Member will assist in both customer service functions in the yard as well as the day-to-day operations with regards to loading delivery trucks and unloading inbound freight. This person may or may not be able to run equipment within the yard including but not limited to skid steers, front loaders, tree bosses, dump trucks chainsaws etc. Working directly with customers in a sales function is not required within this role. Order entry is not required at this level
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist Yard Service Team as well as inside sales staff with expediting quick loading of customers in the sales yard
- General cleaning and maintenance of the sales area and office
- Unloading incoming delivery trucks
- Loading outgoing delivery trucks
- Watering as needed / drip irrigation maintenance
- Re-blocking trees and shrubs (consolidation within blocks)
- General nursery plant health care functions to include re-burlapping, pruning, weeding, and fertilization of current stock.
Requirements – Knowledge:
- Forklift and Nursery Equipment experience is required
- Ability to speak and understand English
- Able to receive and follow through on simple tasks involving one or two steps
Requirements – Personal:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Must be dependable, punctual with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work outside in all weather (will need work boots, gloves and raincoat)
- Be a team player
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
- Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
- Must be organized and able to multitask and call for help when needed and redistribute tasks accordingly
