Position Overview:
This is a company-wide position responsible for the future growth and success of our company’s hardscape department. While the primary focus is currently in our Hopkinton Wholesale yard, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing the purchasing and sales of manufactured and natural stone products and all hardscape-related products for the entire company. Responsibilities include sourcing, buying, pricing, displaying, determining yard layout/customer flow, presentation, inventory management, sales training, and selling & design assistance. Success will be measured primarily through meeting or exceeding sales growth projections based on achieving exceptional presentation and customer service standards around this product line. Our goal is to be considered the top supplier in the area.
Primary Responsibilities:
Purchasing – 20%
- Purchases and sells hardscape and related hard goods material to all channels
- Sources innovative and best quality materials to add to Weston’s product offering
- Seeks out new dealers and distributor opportunities toward future product growth
- Negotiates best price, terms and delivery schedules with vendors
- Exceeds customer expectations for product breadth, quality, availability, special orders
Selling – 70%
- Works collaboratively with all channels to support sellers and to close sales.
- Meets sales and margin goals
- Meets inventory targets and turns
- Drives excellent customer service experience
- Provides design assistance to help customers plan projects
- Leads participation in all hardscape marketing events
Planning – 10%
- Participates with store managers in budgeting process
- Directs merchandising and construction of display areas
- Lead expert and trainer across all channels and all sellers
- Adheres to the company’s processes and systems
Skills:
- 5 plus years of industry experience
- Hardscape design and installation knowledge
- Hardscape buying knowledge
- Horticulture background a plus
