Meet Our Team
We have staff available who can speak Spanish and Portuguese.
Leo joined Weston Nurseries in 2003 as a loader. He was soon promoted through the ranks as a running man and the supervisor to the call area. In 2008 he joined the Commercial Sales Team, being responsible for walk-in sales. Leo was born in Bolivia and he speaks fluent Spanish and Portuguese. He has attended Green School and is studying to become a Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist.
Kara started working at Weston Nurseries in 2001. After graduating from Rittners School of Floral Design in Boston, she worked in the floral industry for 6 years as a floral designer before realizing her love of trees and gardening. When not found behind her desk, crunching numbers and processing orders, you can find her enjoying the outside with her son and husband: camping, boating, gardening and laughing.
Green Goods Purchasing Manager
Sam has been working at Weston Nurseries since 1987. A native of New Jersey who grew up in Connecticut, Sam is a proud UConn graduate. An avid gardener, Sam is still trying to grow a giant pumpkin that weighs more than he does.
Connie joined the Weston Nurseries Commercial Sales Staff in 2010. She attended Northeastern University to pursue a degree in Computer Science, and was an educator in the computer industry for 10 years. After being diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, she received a chemotherapy drug called Taxol. While reading about this drug, she discovered it was derived from the bark of a Pacific Yew tree. This prompted her to add “work at Weston Nurseries” to her bucket list, to be close to the trees which saved her life. She no longer has a bucket list, is a 11 year survivor, and loving life in the gardens of Weston Nurseries.
Jeff Meola, MCH, ISA Certified Arborist
Jeff’s horticultural career began doing yard work for his parents, and he actually enjoyed it. When he was sixteen he started cutting grass. That is how he paid for college at Fitchburg State, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. As his small business grew, so did his family. Settling down and having a family was important to him. Being a small business owner did not allow him the time he wanted with his family, so he closed the business. With farmer’s blood running through his veins, he needed a place to serve as both an outlet and provide a regular paycheck. Jeff joined Weston Nurseries in 2001 and has moved up the ranks to Operations Manager where he remains to this day. Jeff speaks Spanish.
Peter Mezitt, MCH

After graduating, Peter worked for seven years at AllGro, Inc. where he served as a sales rep., and eventually Sales Manager developing markets for bulk compost products throughout the northeast. He joined his family business in 1996 where he first ran the wholesale division for the company. In subsequent years, Peter held positions of Marketing Manager, Director of Sales, and General Manager. After working under an outside CEO for a few years, Peter took over as President in 2007. He is married to Karen Mezitt and has three kids – Nathan (13), Anna (12), and Madeline (9). He lives in Hopkinton, MA, serves on the local Chamber of Commerce, and enjoys gardening, golfing, hockey and traveling.
Wayne grew up at the nursery, following his dad Ed and his grandfather Peter J., spending countless hours absorbing all aspects of the industry. He began his fulltime career after graduating with a business degree from Cornell University in 1966, and become a Massachusetts Certified Horticulturist in 1978. Wayne bought his brother Roger’s share of the business in 2007, necessitating the sale of much of the nursery’s production acreage. He has been active in many community and industry organizations, and served as president of the Massachusetts Nursery and Landscape Association, the New England Nursery Association, and the American Nursery and Landscape Association, based in Washington, DC. Wayne continues to participate actively, utilizing his extensive horticultural knowledge with special clients.

Then spending the last 8 years as a nursery sales representative covering New England. I feel this gives me a unique in sight into the business.
