Purple Coneflower

Large flowers with white, horizontal rays surrounding an orange-yellow cone, July - October. Native to the mid eastern USA. Prefers well drained, only moderately fertile soil. Should have good winter drainage. Divide in spring. Rarely severely damaged by deer. Attracts butterflies.  Cones attract birds if allowed to stand during winter. Spacing: 12-18".
