Deciduous. Narrow, upright and vigorous growing. This species is native to the Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains. Heavy blooming in late May or early June in shades of red, yellow, orange and ivory. Grown from seed. Full sun to part shade. Native. PP -- This cultivar or species has been selected as a "Proven Performer" by the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society and performs consistently well in USDA Zones 5 and 6 Massachusetts landscapes.
