Deciduous hybrids of the species. Summer flowering. Compact, wide spreading and slow growing. Fragrant white to light pink flowers in mid June. Glossy dark green foliage becomes red-orange in fall. Tolerates light shade. Native to the mid Atlantic states and well adapted to New England. Seed grown plants or mixed hybrids. (-24°F, UM) PP -- This cultivar or species has been selected as a "Proven Performer" by the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society and performs consistently well in USDA Zones 5 and 6 Massachusetts landscapes.
