Azalea

Deciduous. Summer flowering. A vigorous-growing wide plant with upright branches, it is rather compact and becomes mound-shaped with age. Heavy flowering with strongly scented small white blossoms in late June. Foliage is twisted, slightly glossy, and has a bronze cast in summer. It shows very little mildew susceptibility. Burgundy-red fall foliage, often with yellow ribs. (-29°F, UM) PP -- This cultivar or species has been selected as a "Proven Performer" by the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society and performs consistently well in USDA Zones 5 and 6 Massachusetts landscapes.
HERITAGE: Selected in the 1970s as a superior hybrid of arborescens x viscosum
