Azalea

Deciduous. Summer flowering. Upright growing and narrow when young, broadening with age. Dark red, slightly fragrant, tubular flowers in early to mid July. Dark green, mildew-resistant foliage. One of the reddest of the summer azaleas. Weston Nurseries introduction originally named 'Firecracker'. Full sun to part shade. Heritage: Selected before 1974, probably (prunifolium x pink viscosum).
