Azalea

Deciduous. Summer flowering. The plant forms an upright mound, growing less than 6" a year once established. Masses of flowers cover the plant in mid to late June. Each flower is pink with a lighter pink and yellow eye and matures to a silvery pink. The aroma is rich and spicy, lingering in the garden. The long green foliage becomes bronzed in summer before turning purple-red with tones of orange and yellow in autumn. Foliage has always proven mildew resistant in this region. (-29°F, UM) PP -- This cultivar or species has been selected as a "Proven Performer" by the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society and performs consistently well in USDA Zones 5 and 6 Massachusetts landscapes.
