Azalea

Dwarf and compact evergreen. Low growing. Groups of bright dark red flowers at the end of each branch in May. Dark green rounded foliage, densely covering the branches, turns mahogany-red in fall and winter. Our field trials over the past decade have determined this hybrid to be a superior choice for New England landscapes. PP -- This cultivar or species has been selected as a "Proven Performer" by the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society and performs consistently well in USDA Zones 5 and 6 Massachusetts landscapes.
HERITAGE: Selected before 1971 [(yedoense var. poukhanensis x 'Vuyk's Scarlet) F2 (or perhaps F3)]
