Chokeberry
Synonym: 'Morton'

Dwarf growing cultivar well-suited to smaller gardens. An abundance of pure white flowers in May. Black edible berries in fall. Wine-red autumn foliage. This is a very adaptable species that is similar in most respects to A. arbutifolia. Forms colonies as it spreads by underground stems, grows well in wet or dry soils, and has the propensity to mature wider than high. Edible black-purple fruit. Adaptable to seashore conditions. It is native over a wider range of the eastern USA than arbutifolia and can vary considerably from region to region.
