Azalea

Deciduous. Summer flowering. Upright growing and wide. Ruffled dark pink flowers in early July emit a spicy fragrance. Bluish green mildew resistant foliage with silvery undersides changes to dark wine-purple in autumn. This is a striking plant for a ­variety of gardens in New England. (-24°F, UM) PP -- This cultivar or species has been selected as a "Proven Performer" by the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society and performs consistently well in USDA Zones 5 and 6 Massachusetts landscapes.
