Master Gardeners are passionate gardeners and dedicated volunteers charged with the mission of improving the practice of horticulture and developing the public's understanding and enjoyment of plants and the environment. The program's experienced and trained volunteers provide invaluable horticultural information and resources to the gardening public through their outreach work, answering gardening questions for callers to the MG HelpLine, running informational booths at community events, giving garden lectures through the Master Gardener Speakers' Bureau, and acting as a docents at MHS events and sites.

The Western Massachusetts Master Gardener Association is a non-profit organization. It is comprised of trained Master Gardeners who must graduate from a demanding study program and volunteer many hours of working with the public to receive a Master Gardener Certificate.
The Western Massachusetts Master Gardener Association provides volunteer services to the general public, including an e-mail hotline to answer your gardening questions; soil testing, and presentations to civic and gardening groups.
